Special Event! Ken Kolodner, of Baltimore, MD, has been my #1 teacher and mentor for nearly 20 years. He and his son, Brad, along with guitarist, Luke Chohany, will be passing through Pittsboro to celebrate the successful release of their third recording, "The Swift House". They will be teaching WORKSHOPS in the afternoon and performing an evening CONCERT. My music partner, Betsy, and I will be opening the show! Come enjoy the captivating sounds of the hammered dulcimer, hammered mbira, banjo, guitar and fiddles, with some vocals thrown in for good measure! All the details below...

Regarded for his delicate touch, expressive style, and original compositions, Brad Kolodner has rapidly gained national attention for his unique approach to the banjo at just 26 years of age. Awarded the 2016 IBMA Momentum Award for Industry Involvement, Kolodner is helping to lead the charge as a performer, teacher, DJ for WAMU’s Bluegrass Country, and ambassador for Old-Time and Bluegrass music. He regularly performs across the country with the acoustic roots quartet Charm City Junction and in a duo with his father, Ken Kolodner, a world-renowned hammered dulcimer player. CONCERT (Pittsboro) Baltimore's nationally acclaimed father-son Old-Time roots duo, Ken & Brad Kolodner, performing in Pittsboro, NC as part of a CD release tour, celebrating the release of their third recording, "The Swift House". Joining Ken and Brad to round out the trio is guitarist, Luke Chohany. Ken and Brad weave together a captivating soundscape on hammered dulcimer, banjo, and fiddles, pushing the boundaries of the Old-Time tradition into uncharted territory.

OPENING THE SHOW are local favorites Sue Wilson and Betsy Kraus. Music buddies since 1998, Sue and Betsy play an eclectic mix of acoustic traditional dance music that will set your toes tapping. Drawing primarily from the rich traditions of Celtic and Old-Time music, Sue and Betsy pair two seldom seen instruments, the hammered dulcimer and the English concertina, to produce a lively and unique sound.

This intimate concert features a re-imagining of Old-Time, Celtic, and World music.
